Road accident with three Piranha armored personnel carriers, in Sălaj. The drivers were tested with the ampoule
Eleven soldiers needed medical attention, after three Piranha 5 armored personnel carriers belonging to a military column from the 813th Infantry Battalion collided, Thursday evening, in Sălaj county, on DN 1C, informs News.ro.
“Today, 05/28/2026, at around 8:30 p.m., at the exit from Bizuşa-Băi, Sălaj county, on the Dej – Baia Mare direction, there was a road accident in which three Piranha 5 armored personnel carriers belonging to a military column from the 813th Infantry Battalion were involved,” the representatives of the military unit reported on Thursday evening.
According to them, the cause of the accident was non-compliance with the legal distance between vehicles.
“As a result of the incident, 11 soldiers were injured, 10 of whom are being evacuated to the Zalău County Emergency Hospital. Police, ambulance and fire crews intervened at the scene,” the press release also states.
Traffic in the area was temporarily restricted for the intervention and investigations.
The military vehicles were slightly damaged. The drivers of the vehicles involved in the accident were tested with the breathalyzer device, the results being negative.
