Several people were killed and others injured in an explosion on New Year's Eve in a bar in the Crans Montana ski resort in the Swiss Alps, Swiss authorities said, according to the BBC.
“There was an explosion of unknown origin,” said the spokesperson of the cantonal police, Gaëtan Lathon. “There are more wounded and more victims,” he added.
The explosion took place at 01:30 local time (00:30 GMT) in the Constellation bar, which is heavily frequented by tourists, as revelers were celebrating the New Year, police said in a statement to the BBC.

Crans-Montana is a luxury ski resort located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, about two hours from Switzerland's capital, Bern.
