The Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges (DRDP) Craiova sent a statement warning drivers not to overtake snow removal equipment and not drive in their immediate vicinity, according to news.ro,
The warning comes after Christmas brought snow and sleet to much of the country, with the southern part under a yellow snow code until 8pm today. In Oltenia it will continue to snow blizzard until the evening. Meteorologists have also announced that, in certain areas, a layer of snow will be deposited that can even reach 25 cm.
“Please do not overtake the snow removal machines and do not drive in their immediate vicinity. In front of the machines, the road is covered with snow or ice, and overtaking them exposes you to major risks”, the DRDP Craiova officials said on Thursday, on the first day of Christmas.
According to them, the anti-skid material can be thrown and can damage vehicles. In addition, machine maneuvers can be unpredictable and visibility is reduced.
“The machines act for your safety. Keep your distance, adjust your speed and drive cautiously. By following these simple rules, you contribute to traffic safety and to carrying out interventions in optimal conditions”, DRDP Craiova also sent.
Until 5:00 p.m., on Christmas Day, road workers operated on the national road network under the administration of DRDP Craiova with 150 vehicles, spreading 830 tons of anti-skid material (829 tons of salt + 1 ton of sand).
The hikers announce that the sky is overcast and there is light snow in most counties and wind in the Rânca area.
“We recommend traffic participants to drive with caution, to adapt their speed to the road conditions and to have their vehicles equipped for the cold season,” DRDP Craiova also sent.
For his part, the president of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile, stated that he intervened since the evening of the Eve: “It has been snowing non-stop throughout the county since last night, so over 100 workers and dozens of machines of the Society for Road and Bridge Works, subordinate to the Dolj County Council, are working to spread anti-skid material and to ensure that the county roads are practicable”.
