The presidential adviser for European affairs of President Nicușor Dan, Valentin Naumescu, claims that, despite the difficult year that is coming to an end, Romania managed to stay “standing”.

Valentin Naumescu says that Romania “was saved in 2025 from the edge of the political and economic precipice it had reached at the end of last year”.

“By far, it is the most important thing that can be said now, in summary, looking back. We are moving forward,” the presidential adviser wrote on his Facebook account.

“I will not take stock of the year that is ending here. A lot happened and it was a difficult year, on all levels of analysis, but Romania remained standing. Not only Romania, but also democratic Europe and the values we believe in,” Naumescu wrote.

At the end of his message, Valentin Naumescu says that he hopes that the year 2026 will be “less turbulent than the one that is ending”.

“I wish you all a happy new year, less turbulent than the one that ends, in which the dawn of hope that the aggressors will not win will reappear. Let's wish that 2026 will be calmer, more serene, and reason will triumph in the face of violence. Happy New Year,” the presidential adviser wrote.

Valentin Naumescu holds the position of presidential advisor for European affairs since November 1.
