American Senator Ted Cruz has launched the hardest attack by a Republican so far in the suspension of Jimmy Kimmel's show of ABC, a decision praised by US President Donald Trump.

ABC television has announced this week the unlimited suspension of the Jimmy Kimmel Live show! As a result of Kimmel's comments, who accused the American right of exploiting for political purposes the assassination of pro-trump influence Charlie Kirk.

Prior to the decision's decision, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Brendan Carr, said that there will be consequences if Kimmel will remain on the broadcast. He said that the filmmaker “seemed to mislead the American public directly” through his emission remarks.

Although the decision of ABC was praised by Donald Trump, the threat of the FCC chief was criticized by a close relative of the White House leader, the Conservative Republican Ted Cruz.

In his podcast Verdict With Ted Cruz, the senator stressed on Friday that he hates what Kimmel said about Kirk and is “delighted to have been fired,” but said that what Carr said “is extremely dangerous”, because he explicitly threatened that he will cancel the ABC license.

“It is that in the movie Goodfellas (godfather),” said Senator Ted Cruz, imitating the emphasis of a mafia.

Other Republicans in the Congress have been more reserved in their criticisms of how FCC pressed ABC, owned by Disney, to take measures against Kimmel, who was suspended on Wednesday.

In contrast, politicians, media personalities and organizations for freedom of expression in the United States have expressed anger and concern about Jimmy Kimmel's suspension, warning that Donald Trump's critics are systematically reduced to silence.
