What will the weather be like in January 2026. ANM announces unusually warm temperatures, starting next week

Meteorologists are predicting higher temperatures than those specific to the calendar period, starting January 5 and until almost the end of the month, in all regions, according to the four-week forecast published on Tuesday.
In week of December 29 – January 5, temperatures will generally be around the specific ones for this week throughout Romania, possibly slightly lower in the area of the Southern Carpathians.
“The rainfall regime will be surplus in the north of the Eastern Carpathians and in the Apuseni Mountains area, but also deficient in the extra-Carpathian regions, and in the rest it will be generally close to normal”, according to ANM.
In week 5 – 12 January, average temperatures will be higher than normal for this interval in all regions, but with a more pronounced positive thermal deviation in the southeastern ones.
The amounts of precipitation estimated for this period will be excess at the level of the entire country, but especially in the western half of the territory.
Also in the week of January 12 – 19, the average air temperature will have higher than normal values for this interval throughout the country, but especially in the southeastern regions.
The rainfall regime will be excessive in the intra-Carpathian regions, and in the rest it will be close to the normal one for this period.
In week of January 19 – 26, average thermal values will be slightly above the specific ones for this week, throughout Romania. The amounts of precipitation estimated for this interval will be close to normal, in most parts of the country.
