The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) wrote on June 8, 1947 that the district film department held a collective farm film festival (12+). Films were shown at three stations and two sound stations. A total of 91 sessions were held, attended by 8,286 people. In addition, 18 illuminated newspapers were demonstrated; in some cases, the sessions were preceded by conversations or reports.

A light newspaper is a thematically and plot-related series of images for mass display.

The newspaper of the Oktyabrsky district “October Dawns” (12+) wrote on June 8, 1982 that a meeting of specialists from state farms, engineering and technical services and feed producers was held in Amurzet, at which issues of feed production were discussed.
Director of the Pogranichny State Farm V.V. spoke about preparations for the fodder harvesting season of their farms. Pimenov, secretary of the party committee of the Amur state farm N.A. Mikryukov, baler driver of the Stolbovsky state farm A.A. Zimin and others.
At the meeting, regional socialist obligations of forage producers were adopted. The meeting participants visited the Pogranichny State Farm, where they became familiar with the design and operating principle of the installation for making hay using the active ventilation method.
The meeting was attended by the chairman of the regional committee of people's control N.M. Kostikov and the deputy chairman of the regional committee of people's control A.A. Belyakov.
In the same newspaper, folk theater artist S. Amurzet E. Aizenshtat spoke about the formation and development of the theater in the village of Amurzet.
In 1935, a club was built in the village, at which a drama club was created under the leadership of the head of the club, Meerov. The club put on good performances. Time passed, the group of artists grew, and in 1961 it was awarded the title “People's Theater”. In 1962, a new serious play was staged.
The theater artists showed a lot of good work, interesting in content and production. The theater team often performed at field camps, went to haymaking and grain harvesting in the villages of the region, and took part in regional shows several times.

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” wrote on June 8, 1988 that in September 1987 the first cooperative for sewing light dresses “Silhouette” opened in Birobidzhan.
At that time, Antonina Nikolaevna Zhila was in charge of the cooperative. At first, there were only four people in the cooperative: an accountant-acceptor, a cutter, two craftsmen, and a little later two more people were hired. For each client, a personal pattern was made according to his specific parameters.

The results of the 1989 All-Union Population Census for the Jewish Autonomous Region were published in the Birobidzhan Star newspaper on June 8, 1990. According to final data, the population in the Jewish Autonomous Region as of January 12, 1989 was 215.9 thousand. In the ten years since the 1979 census, the population increased by 25.7 thousand (13.5%).

The urban population increased by 12.8 thousand or 9.9% compared to 1979, and the rural population by 12.9 thousand or 21.3%.
The number of married people in the region increased – from 92.6 thousand in 1979 to 104.9 thousand in 1989.

The level of education in the region has increased. The share of the employed population in its total number has decreased over 10 years from 54.4% to 51.8%. The employment rate among the working age population fell from 88.6% in 1979 to 86.9% in 1989.

The newspaper reported that the first delegation of American professors from New York University visited Birobidzhan at the invitation of the State Pedagogical Institute. Professors Miriam Dorn, Martin and Esther Marin and Sheram Hersh visited kindergartens, schools, and the Palace of Pioneers. They met with city teachers, students and journalists.

The American guests expressed a desire to help establish higher education in the region. Having donated books on language methods, preschool and primary pedagogy to the institute, they concluded protocols of intent on teacher and student exchanges, and advanced training courses.

In order to further develop children's sports in the Jewish Autonomous Region, the regional governor N.M. Volkov adopted a resolution to hold the Far Eastern Children's Sports Festival “Sholom – 2000” (6+) in Birobidzhan from June 5 to 9, 2000.
The newspapers “Birobidzhan Star” and “Birobidzhaner Stern” (12+) wrote on their pages on June 8, 2000 about the Far Eastern children's sports festival “Sholom -2000”.
“About 460 athletes took part in the children’s sports festival “Sholom-2000”. Young athletes came from the Khabarovsk and Primorsky territories, the Amur, Sakhalin and Chita regions, from Yakutia and, of course, from the Jewish Autonomous Region. Several Chinese tennis players became the attraction of the current festival. Thanks to them, the festival acquired international status.
Opening the festival, the chairman of the Sholom organizing committee, V.S., spoke to the boys and girls. Gurevich, Deputy Mayor of Birobidzhan L.S. Korchminskaya and the chief judge of the competition V.M. Sizov. After the opening of the children's sports festival, buses transported athletes, coaches and judges to the venues where the competitions were to take place.
In the intervals between match meetings, festival participants enjoyed discos, a big concert at the Philharmonic, a performance by amateur artists at the Children's Art Center and excursions to the city's museums.”
