President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday that he will have a new meeting next week with the leaders of the states that support his country in the war with Russia. At the same time, the Ukrainian leader provided more details about his meeting with Donald Trump on Sunday, in Florida, according to The Guardian.
Kiev has discussed with President Trump the possible presence of US troops in Ukraine, Zelensky told the press in a WhatsApp conversation, Reuters reports.
The Ukrainian leader revealed on Monday that the US has committed to providing security guarantees for a period of 15 years, although Ukraine would like them to last longer, for example 30-50 years.
Also on Tuesday, Zelenski announced that a new meeting of the Coalition of the Will. National security advisers from the “Coalition of the Will” plan to meet in Ukraine on January 3, and the leaders of these countries will then meet in France on January 6.
Ukraine's coalition of allies, led by Britain and France, includes more than 30 nations, although it is unclear how many will attend the meetings.
Zelenskiy's meeting with European leaders next Tuesday in France will come as the fourth year of the full-scale Russian invasion approaches and new accusations from Moscow have stalled peace talks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused on Monday that Ukraine tried to attack the residence of President Vladimir Putin in the Novgorod region (northern Russia) and that therefore Moscow's position in the peace negotiations will be reviewed.
