Road traffic is closed on Transalpina, starting Sunday at 6 p.m., according to the announcement made by the Gorj County Police Inspectorate.
“Starting at 18:00, traffic on DN 67 C Rânca will be stopped in both directions, due to the weather conditions”, announced IPJ Gorj on Sunday evening, according to News.ro.
DRDP Craiova suggested that road users still cannot intervene due to weather conditions.
“Due to the extreme weather conditions, strong wind and blizzard that lead to zero visibility on DN 67C, between Novaci and Rânca, it was decided to close road traffic, starting at 6:00 p.m., until the weather conditions will allow road users to intervene with machines in safe conditions”, announced DRDP Craiova, on Sunday, in a post on Facebook.
In a previous post, DRDP Craiova said that, “most likely”, road traffic will only resume on Monday, “in the second part of the day”.
The area is under a red code until Monday, at 10 a.m., according to the warning issued by the National Meteorological Administration.
“In the mentioned interval in the Southern Carpathians and Curbura, at altitudes above 1700 m, there will be snow accompanied by very strong winds, with gust speeds of over 120 km/h and which will cause the visibility to drop to almost zero,” said ANM.
