The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland announced the conversation between the presidents in a post on the X platform.

Today, there was another telephone conversation between the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump. At the beginning, the presidents wished each other a Merry Christmas – it was said.

It was added that “later in the conversation, Karol Nawrocki and Donald Trump touched upon the state of transatlantic relations and security in the region in connection with the ongoing war in Ukraine caused by the Russian Federation – in particular, the progress of peace arrangements was discussed.”

As indicated in the entry, we also talked about:

  • Poland's participation in the work of the G20 group,
  • Polish-American economic cooperation,
  • energy issues.

The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland noted that the conversation took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere.

The head of the presidential Office of International Policy, Marcin Przydacz, told PAP that the conversation between Nawrocki and Trump it was relatively long and the presidents touched on a number of topicsand “the first and most important was the issue of security in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, also in the context of the current situation in Ukraine.”

– They also talked about the negotiations taking place between Washington, Kiev, Moscow, but also some Western European countries. Our position here is clear, and Mr. President (Nawrocki) also talked about it, that Vladimir Putin is the aggressor in this war, which is of course clear to everyone, and Vladimir Putin should, above all, step back in these negotiations when it comes to his demands and expectations, Przydacz said.

The minister was asked how Donald Trump adopted the position of the Polish president, taking into account the recent US-Russian talks and negotiations and the controversy surrounding the peace plan.

Przydacz replied that the American president is an extremely experienced politician who also has a lot of very detailed information about the course of negotiations.

I am convinced that during the next talks he (President Trump) will try to bring about peace. However, after listening to this conversation (Nawrocki and Trump), I am absolutely convinced that President Trump knows perfectly well who is ready to compromise in these negotiations and who is not ready to compromise – said the head of the presidential Office of International Policy.

Przydacz was also asked whether, after the presidents' Friday conversation, he was convinced that Donald Trump understood better and was more sympathetic to the European and Ukrainian perspective when it comes to the war caused by Russia. – President Trump will certainly look through the prism of, firstly, American interests, and secondly, the desire to end this conflict. However, our task during these talks is to present our Polish perspective on politics, especially Russian politics, when it comes to the security situation, because Russia is the destroyer of peace and Russia is the destroyer of stability in Europe – emphasized the presidential minister.

He expressed his belief that the very good atmosphere in which the conversation between Nawrocki and Trump took place would contribute to the fact that Polish arguments would be analyzed in the White House. (PAP)
