“I think the meeting with President Trump will take place on Sunday in Florida,” Zelensky said, quoted by Ukrinform.

The subject of the talks will be a draft document on the end of the war, as well as security guarantees and, among others, economic agreement.

As the Ukrainian president emphasized, he will raise issues with Trump on which no compromise has been reached so far.

On Wednesday, the President of Ukraine presented a new, 20-point peace plan proposal developed by the US, which is the result of consultations with the parties to the conflict. It provides for, among others:

  • reconfirmation of Ukraine's sovereign status,
  • freezing the conflict on current contact lines,
  • a solid development package for Ukraine,
  • activities to rebuild the country,
  • accelerating the process of concluding a free trade agreement between Ukraine and the USA,
  • elections in the country as soon as possible after the end of the war.

He added that an agreement to end the war in Ukraine would be an agreement between the US, Ukraine, Europe and Russia. He added that Ukraine's accession to NATO remains a decision of the Alliance's member states, but Kiev will not give up this prospect.

Kremlin: Putin's advisor talked to representatives of the US administration

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that an adviser to leader Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov, talked to members of the US authorities after Moscow received American proposals for a peace agreement with Ukraine. Peskov did not say when the conversation with Ushakov, Putin's foreign policy adviser, took place.

He added that Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev brought documents regarding American peace proposals to Moscow after the meeting that took place last weekend in Miami.

The information was analyzed, Peskov said, adding that there were contacts between representatives of the administrations of both countries. – It was agreed to continue the dialogue – he added.

He refused to present the Kremlin's opinion on the proposals presented to him, saying that public consideration of these matters could make negotiations more difficult.

Russian newspaper Kommersant reported earlier on Friday that at a meeting with top Russian businessmen on December 24, Putin said he might be open to exchanging some of the territories controlled by Russian troops in Ukraine, but wanted Russia to take over the entire Donbas.

When asked about this article, Peskov said that the topic of peace talks was discussed “generally” at that meeting. He did not provide any details about what was discussed in the talks.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed on Friday that he plans to meet US leader Donald Trump on Sunday, and the meeting is to cover, among others, draft peace agreement, security guarantees and the possibility of putting pressure on Moscow.

Elysée Palace: Macron's telephone conversation with Putin is not planned

A telephone conversation between French President Emmanuel Macron and Russian leader Vladimir Putin is not planned for now, the Élysée Palace reported on Friday, quoted by AFP.

According to Paris, “no telephone conversation is planned for now”; Macron is also not planning a trip to Moscow.

The French president signaled last Friday after the EU summit in Brussels that he was ready to resume dialogue with the Russian leader. – I think it would be useful to resume talks with Vladimir Putin, he said. He added that “there are people who talk to Putin”, most likely referring to US President Donald Trump.

In response, the Kremlin announced that Putin was ready to talk with Macron, which the Elysee Palace welcomed.

In addition, the Russian authorities made a proposal to France regarding Laurent Vinatier, a French scientist convicted in Russia of violating the law on “foreign agents”. This was announced on Thursday by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
