A student of the Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical University who set fire to an ATM at the direction of cyber swindlers will appear in court, the regional prosecutor's office reported.

Let us recall that at the end of last year, a 19-year-old second-year student at a pedagogical university received a call from scammers on behalf of the Central Bank, they convinced the girl that her parents had embarked on the path of illegal activities and were supporting an unfriendly country with money. They have already come to the attention of law enforcement officers and without her help it will not be possible to save their parents.

In order to allegedly save relatives from criminal liability, the scammers told them to buy a canister, fill it with gasoline and set fire to the cars of one of the police departments.

Carrying out an assignment, the student came to the police department building, but there was no transport on site. After that, she was sent to one of the bank branches, where she set fire to the terminal. At the same time, she herself received 1-2 degree burns, shock and thermal inhalation injury and was hospitalized in serious condition.

She will be tried for intentional damage to property causing significant damage. This can be punished by forced labor for up to five years or imprisonment for the same period.
