Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that it was not up to Vladimir Putin to decide whether to hold elections in Ukraine, after the Kremlin leader suggested a day ago that Russia could end deep-seated airstrikes on election day.
“It is not up to (Vladimir) Putin to decide when and in what format the elections will be held in Ukraine,” declared Volodymyr Zelensky, excluding any possibility of organizing them in territories currently occupied by Russian forces, reports Agerpres.
Zelenski also mentioned that the United States proposed a meeting with Ukrainian and Russian negotiators in Miami to discuss the plan for Ukraine.
Washington “proposed a format, as far as I know, Ukraine, USA, Russia”, Zelenski indicated, adding that European representatives could also be present and that “it would make sense to have such a joint meeting (…) once we see the potential results of the meetings that have already taken place”.
