The first message of the new interim mayor from Sector 6: “I will carry on the good practices” / Which he says are the priorities of his mandate

Paul Moldovan (PNL), until now deputy mayor in Sector 6, took over on Monday, December 29, the position of interim mayor of the Sector, after the former mayor, Ciprian Ciucu, became general mayor following the elections of December 7. Among the priorities, Moldovan lists green spaces, “more streets for people”, “modern playgrounds and safe schools“.
On Monday, Paul Moldovan had a meeting with “the team of the District 6 City Hall” to discuss “the future of the projects we are working on and preparing”.
“I explained to them that I make a firm commitment to you, the community of Sector 6, to continue the development, to carry forward the projects and to start others. In the five years since the mayor Ciprian Ciucu took over the mandate, together with our team we managed to transform the face of the sector. With him by my side at PMB, I will carry forward the policies, the good practices”, Moldovan wrote on Facebook.
The new interim mayor claims that the fact that there is continuity in the management of the Sector “gives us the assurance” that Sector 6 “will remain the most attractive place in Bucharest for young families who are looking for a home”.
“I want more green, more streets for people, modern playgrounds, safe educational facilities, European standards, energy efficiency of housing, redeveloped markets, improved infrastructure, and of course spaces for cars, as far as the land allows us. We will do good work together,” wrote the new acting mayor of District 6.
It is not clear whether elections will be held in District 6, although the law leaves no room for interpretation
Ciprian Ciucu officially took over his duties as general mayor of Bucharest on December 19. In his first speech as general mayor, he talked about the financial situation of the mayor's office and said that he wants to create a large majority in the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest (CGMB).
Ciprian Ciucu won the position of general mayor of the Capital following the partial local elections of December 7 with 36.16% of the votes (over 211,000 votes). He thus prevailed in front of Anca Alexandrescu, supported by AUR (21.94%), Daniel Băluță, from PSD (20.51%), respectively Cătălin Drula, from USR (13.90%).

After the victory of Ciprian Ciucu at the Bucharest City Hall, the Government should organize elections in this Sector within 90 days at most from the vacancy of the post, according to the law.
The Prefect of the Capital, Andrei Nistor, however, spoke about the possibility that the elections for a new mayor of Sector 6 will be organized only in 2028, on time, when the mandate of Ciprian Ciucu, re-elected mayor in the summer of 2024, would have ended.
“The elections for Sector 6, following the vacation, should be organized within a maximum of 90 days. There is a possibility that the deadline will be exceeded, there is even a possibility that they will be held only on time, in 2028, depending on the will of the Government, if we take into account the costs and the necessary logistics. From the point of view of the Prefect's Institution, we will take all the necessary steps to organize it within the legal deadline,” the capital's prefect, Andrei, told the Buletin de Bucharest publication Nistor, on December 8.
