Analysts named MTS the leader in the private networks market in 2025

December 19 16:40

According to the analytical agency Telecom Daily, MTS took first place in the Russian market of private LTE networks. Since 2018, the operator has implemented 69 similar projects, which is 43% of the total number in the country.

Next came Megafon (35%) and Rostelecom (4%). Another 18% comes from other market players, who in total carried out 30 launches. It is noted that the pLTE market is demonstrating high growth rates: in 2025, its volume may increase by 50% and reach 7.4 billion rubles.

The demand for these technologies is mainly generated by industrial enterprises. The leader is the mining sector (46% of projects), followed by the oil and gas industry (16%), transport (12%) and energy (11%).

The Krasnoyarsk Territory accounts for 7% of the share of all projects implemented by MTS. They are mainly deployed in the Far North in the mining, oil and gas, coal, petrochemical and gold mining industries.

There, based on pLTE, modern digital services are implemented for industrial giants. The technology ensures the collection of telemetry through the industrial Internet of things, remote control of processes in real time, the introduction of intelligent video surveillance and high-precision positioning of equipment and personnel. In addition, Private LTE replaces outdated types of professional radio communications in enterprises, providing a reliable and secure channel for mission-critical communications.

Experts note that the market is developing in several key areas. Firstly, it is the integration of pLTE technologies with artificial intelligence and data processing at the network periphery (edge analytics), which allows you to instantly analyze information from sensors and cameras directly in production, without overloading central servers.

Secondly, the popularity of the SaaS model is growing, when companies pay not for all equipment, but for access to cloud communication services. This makes technology accessible to medium-sized businesses.

In the future, a transition to private fifth-generation networks (p5G) and a shift in emphasis from infrastructure to complex software solutions for specific industrial tasks are expected. At the same time, import substitution of network equipment continues, which, however, may temporarily lead to higher prices and longer implementation times for projects.
