18 December 16:46

The dam and spillway on Lake Ivashechkinskoye, located in the area of Vilsky Street, were built back in the Soviet years. Recently they have been in a technically faulty state. During floods, the discharge of water flowing from the lake into the Serebryany Stream was not controlled. This created a risk of destruction of the hydraulic structure at 17 Elena Stasova Street.

Work on its restoration began at the end of July. They were carried out in parallel with the improvement of the embankment near the lake, which was carried out under the “Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment” program of the national project “Infrastructure for Life”.

“A comprehensive repair of the dam and spillway located in the body of the structure was carried out on the lake. First, the contractor had to clear the area of excess growth and debris and dismantle the deformed structures, only then he was able to repair the spillway and dam. The dam was originally made from local soils; specialists strengthened it with crushed stone. And the old destroyed spillway was replaced with a concrete one,” the mayor’s office reported.

Also, the press service of the city administration said that workers built a pedestrian bridge over the spillway structure, and along the crest of the dam they made a pedestrian path paved with paving stones. The lake was drained during the work, but has now been filled again.
