GSU SK in Krasnoyarsk region reported on the completion of the criminal investigation against journalist Svetlana Khustik on charges of public dissemination of knowingly false information about actions Russian military.

According to investigators, in May 2023, the defendant, being a journalist for one of the foreign online publications included in the register as foreign agents, using a pseudonym for conspiracy purposes, posted in its public community material containing, under the guise of reliable information, deliberately false information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during a special military operation.
“It was established that no later than April 2020, a freelance agreement was concluded between the accused and a foreign non-profit corporation to pay for journalistic products in the form of audio, text, photo and video materials. In May 2023, after the interview was published, the woman received a monetary reward in the amount of 64 thousand rubles,” the Investigative Committee said.
Svetlana Khustik was detained
in September 2025. She has been in custody since then.

We would like to remind you that initially a criminal case was opened against the journalist under Part 1 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, but during the investigation the actions accused of her were reclassified as a more serious crime – points “d, e” of Part 2 of Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (public dissemination, under the guise of reliable messages, of deliberately false information containing data on the use of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in order to protect the interests of the Russian Federation and its citizens, maintaining international peace and security, committed for selfish reasons based on political and ideological hatred).

Currently, the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor's office for approval of the indictment and subsequent transfer to the court for consideration on the merits.
