Coach Daniel Pancu spoke about the chances of the CFR Cluj team to reach the SuperLiga play-off, after the victory over Csikszereda, 3-1, in the 20th round.

The match with the band from Miercurea Ciuc was the first for Pancu after obtaining the PRO license. The three goals scored by Andrei Cordea brought three points thanks to which CFR Cluj temporarily came within five points of UTA Arad, the team in 6th place, the last one that ensures presence in the play-off.

Daniel Pancu does not give up on the play-off: “We can dream”

“I had emotions, things went perfectly until 2-0, then unfortunately, as in life, one thing that is easy to lose is confidence. It could have cost us. The opponent had a shot from the central area, we lost confidence because of no foul we could not get it.

We let them come over us, Ceara had a very good opportunity. I analyzed him very well, he is an interesting player, he could play in a better team. I lost faith. And Louis and Matei will be suspended at Botoșani. This is the third win for me here.

We try to win every game. We can dream, no one can stop us from dreaming. We will see from January what will happen. When you have a lot of points to recover, you play under pressure and pressure does not lead to anything good. We don't give in. We are not capitulating.

Who says it's easy? There are about 20 players of the same value, I think we imposed some simple rules and we had no problems, maybe only one or two players”, said Daniel Pancu, according to digisport.ro.

Captain Mario Camora claims that the main objective for the Transylvanian team is to win the Romanian Cup.

“We have to think from match to match. It's hard to reach the play-offs, but as long as there are chances, we have to believe. It's normal that it's frustrating, but we have to think about each match separately. The most important objective at the moment is the Romanian Cup,” Camora said, according to the quoted source.

In the last match of 2025, CFR Cluj will face FC Botoșani, away, on December 19, from 20:00.
