Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski urged his allies on Thursday to act for a “regime change” in Russia. The statement was made a few hours after a Russian attack with drones and rockets on Kiev, in which 11 people died, including a 6 -year -old boy, AFP reports.

The attacks during the night transformed into ruins a residential block with nine floors in the western suburbs of Kiev, being injured over 100 people in the capital of Ukraine, according to the authorities.

The Russian army also claims that it has conquered Chasiv Yar, a strategic coastal city in eastern Ukraine, where the two camps wore fierce fights for months.

Moscow has intensified its lethal air attacks on Ukraine in recent months, resisting American pressures to put an end to the war, while its forces advances on the battlefield.

What did Volodimir Zelenski say

In a video intervention at a conference that marked the 50th anniversary of the signing of Helsinki agreements, the president of Ukraine said that he believes that Russia can be “pushed” to stop the war.

“But if the world does not intend to change the Russian regime, this means that even after the war, Moscow will continue to try to destabilize the neighboring countries,” added Volodimir Zelenski.

From Wednesday night until Thursday morning, Russia has launched over 300 drones and eight cruise missiles on Ukraine, the main target being Kiev, the Ukrainian air forces said.

On Thursday, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Chasiv Yar “was released by Russian forces.” A spokesman of the Ukrainian army rejected the statement as “lies”.

Ukrainian military analyst Oleksandr Kovalenko said that Russians “have full control over the entire northern and eastern part of Chasiv Yar, including more difficult to obtain areas. However, fighting for the western part of the town are still in progress, he added.

If it is materialized, taking over the control over the Chasiv Yar represents a major military progress for Russia, which in recent months has achieved small but constant territorial victories.

The locality, which before the war had about 12,000 inhabitants, but which is now largely destroyed, would open the way for the advancement of Russian forces to the last civil bastions in Donetk, a region in eastern Ukraine.

It is also about the Kramatorsk and Slovian Gharnizan cities, important logistics bases for the Ukrainian army and shelter for many civilians who have not fled the battles.

The Kremlin made the conquest of Donetk a priority, because it declared the region annexed in September 2022.

Russia, who denies that he had attacked civilians, has not yet commented on Wednesday night attacks or Zelenski's call for changing the Moscow regime.

Putin himself demanded the removal of Zelenski and questioned the legitimacy of the Ukrainian president repeatedly.
