Tomatoes will be sweeter than sugar: at the beginning of December I add an unexpected ingredient to the compost

To get a bumper harvest of sweet tomatoes next year, you need to prepare the beds already in November. The secret lies in the correct composting with the addition of a simple and affordable component that is found in every kitchen.

Adding compost in the fall allows the fertilizer to be completely processed over the winter and early spring. By the time the seedlings are planted, the soil will be saturated with nutrients and beneficial microorganisms.

Compost recipe with “secret” ingredient:

  • 10 kg of plant residues;
  • 2 kg of wood ash;
  • 1 kg fishmeal;
  • 500 g dry yeast;
  • 100 g sugar;
  • Soil from the garden.

Preparation:

  1. Place plant debris in layers in the compost pit.
  2. Sprinkle each layer with ash and fish meal.
  3. Dissolve yeast in warm water with sugar.
  4. Pour the resulting solution onto the compost.
  5. Cover with thick film until spring.

After using this compost, the tomatoes become surprisingly sweet and aromatic. The fruits grow one third larger than usual, and the plants themselves are practically free from late blight. The harvest ripens much earlier: the first red tomatoes can be harvested when the neighbors are just beginning to bear fruit.

Only plant yeast is suitable for making compost. It is important to protect the compost heap from rain and maintain a temperature of 15-20°C for optimal fermentation. Remember to stir the compost every 3-4 weeks – this will ensure even maturation of the fertilizer.

This method is completely natural: all components are of natural origin. It improves the soil structure, significantly saves you money on fertilizers and is ideal for all nightshades: tomatoes, peppers, eggplants.
