A spokesman for the National Electoral Office Marcin Chmielnicki confirmed PAP on Tuesday that the National Electoral Commission asked the ABW for information on the financing of Rafał Trzaskowski's presidential campaign. This request was associated with the PKW obligation to prepare a report on the presidential election.

On Tuesday, the Portal Niepodżna.pl said that the PKW had asked the ABW to explain urgent explanations regarding the sources of financing the online campaign of Rafał Trzaskowski. According to the portal, which referred to the letter of the PKW chairman Sylwester Marciniak from June 1 to the head of ABW Rafał Syryski, the doubts were to concern the legality and transparency of expenses for the promotion of a candidate in social media and internet portals.
The KBW spokesman asked about this matter informed, among others, that “a request for all information was asked in this matter.”
Marciniak's letter to the head of the Internal Security Agency is associated with the obligation of the PKW, so that no later than 14 days after making public results of the election, she could send a report on the election to the Marshal of the Sejm and the Supreme Court, which determines the validity of the election of the President of the Republic of Poland.
The PKW, which adopted a report on this year's presidential election on Monday, stated that during voting, especially on the day of re -voting, there were incidents that could affect the result of voting. In conclusions, there was no clear assessment of these incidents.
“PKW leaves the Supreme Court to assess their impact on the result of the election of the President of the Republic of Poland” – he was noted in the report.
Last week, the National Prosecutor's Office announced the investigation that is taking place regarding the illegal use of funding funds on Facebook in the presidential campaign in Poland. The proceedings are conducted by the Małopolska Office Department of the Department of Organized Crime and Corruption of the PK in Krakow, which in May was received by materials from the ABW regarding, among others political advertising films published on Facebook, whose financing source was unclear.
Information on the initiation of an investigation in this matter was also provided by independent.pl, informing that this proceeding is conducted on illegal spots in social media, promoting the KO candidate for president and discrediting the candidate supported by PiS Karol Nawrocki and the candidate of the Confederation Sławomir Mentzen.
The controversy on political advertising on the Internet during the presidential campaign appeared after a scientific and academic communication of the computer network (NASK) of May 14, when it was revealed that they could be financed from abroad and interfere in the presidential campaign. Then Wirtualna Polska linked these activities with the Akcja Democracy Foundation, whose members promoted Trzaskowski and attacked his competitors.
PiS submitted a notification to the prosecutor's office, accusing the illegal financing of the KO campaign. OSCE observers also raised reservations, indicating that Polish law does not regulate campaigns conducted by third parties. OSCE mentioned, among others Democracy, which financed hundreds of billboards and advertising on the Internet. (PAP)
