The Prime Minister of Slovakia wrote a letter. “If the EU is to die, let it die”


Robert Fico cited the letter in parliament on Thursday. The Slovak Prime Minister emphasized that his position will not change under any pressure and regardless of how long the December peak lasts. However, he added that he would respect the decision of other member states if they decided to make their own voluntary commitments.

In his opinion The conflict in Ukraine has no military solutionand the EU's strategy towards this conflict is inappropriate and ineffective. He noted that he supports the peace initiatives and efforts of US President Donald Trump.

Fico quoted the letter during parliamentary interpellations. In parliament, he also referred to the US security strategy. According to him, the document states that the EU is moving away from its basic values. “If the EU continues in this way and does not respect its sovereign policies, traditions and historical roots, it will perish. And if he is to die, let him die” Fico said.
