The Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation announced that it has decided to gradually abandon confirmation of entry into “State Services” via SMS, RIA Novosti writes.
“Due to the growing number of cases of fraud, when users of State Services unintentionally transmit SMS codes to enter the portal, it was decided to gradually abandon confirmation of entry to the portal via SMS,” the department said.

For now, this decision only applies to logging into “State Services” via mobile devices, the Ministry of Digital Development added.
Some users of the mobile version of Gosuslug have already lost the ability to log in using a code sent via SMS. Instead, users are asked to install the national instant messenger Max, numerous Russian media reported.
However, some users report that they can still log in without using the Max messenger.
