Romania jumps four places in the FIFA ranking » The “Tricolori” are back in the world top 50

Romania's national team has made significant progress in the latest update of the FIFA world rankings, published today on the official website of the international forum. After the October results, the “tricolori” climbed four positions, reaching 47th place, with a total of 1,480.13 points.
The good form of the last period contributed decisively to the ascent in the hierarchy.
The evolution of the opponents in Group H in the preliminaries for the 2026 World Cup
Romania achieved two victories from as many matches:

Romania – Moldova 2-1 (friendly)

Romania – Austria 1-0 (preliminaries of the 2026 World Cup, Group H)
These results put an end to the negative streak from the first half of the year, when the team had constantly dropped in the ranking, reaching the 51st place. It should be noted that, on December 19, 2024, Romania occupied the 38th position, before a period of decline.
In the same FIFA update, Romania's opponents in the World Cup 2026 preliminaries have registered the following changes:

The next FIFA ranking update is scheduled for November 21, 2025.
The best ranking of the tricolors is the 3rd place in the world (September 1997), while the lowest position: the 57th place (in 2011 and 2012).
