According to an information from the National Penitentiary Administration (ANP) sent at the request of AGERPRES, from the centralized data on Friday it appears that 862 people deprived of liberty (848 from the Bucharest-Rahova Penitentiary and 14 from the Bucharest-Rahova Hospital Penitentiary) have the right to vote on Sunday, of which 725 (718 from the Bucharest-Rahova Penitentiary and seven from the Bucharest-Rahova Hospital Penitentiary) they expressed in writing their intention to present themselves at the polls, writes Agerpres.

Detainees are informed, sufficiently in advance, about the fact that they can vote, through the special ballot box.

Written statements are taken from persons deprived of liberty who do not wish to exercise their right to vote. In case of refusal, minutes are drawn up by the department heads, confirmed by the director of the unit.

The voting process will take place in accordance with the provisions of article 12 of Decision no. 95/December 1 regarding the uniform application of some legal provisions in the matter of exercising the right to vote in the partial local elections on Sunday for the position of general mayor of the Capital.

In the Sunday elections, voting starts at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m.

Prior to the conduct of the voting activity, the ANP sends subordinate units instructions regarding the adoption of appropriate measures.

In order to properly exercise the right of persons deprived of liberty to vote, at the level of the subordinate units of the ANP, several measures were ordered, including: identifying prisoners with the right to vote and informing them about the possibility of exercising the right to vote through the special ballot box, informing them about the need to formulate requests regarding the exercise of the right to vote, submitting the necessary diligence to issue identity documents to prisoners with the right to vote who do not possess or to change those whose term of validity has expired, the submission of the nominal lists, together with the requests, to the polling station in whose territorial radius the penitentiary or the place of detention is located and the establishment and arrangement of an appropriate space within the unit for the placement of ballot boxes and voting booths, taking into account the approximate number of persons deprived of liberty participating in the elections.
