In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a man killed his 4-year-old son when he decided to take him for a ride on a snowmobile while drunk.

The traffic police said that a 42-year-old resident of the Turukhansky district was driving along a field road on a snowmobile. The driver was drunk, but was carrying his 4-year-old son as a passenger. At some point, he lost control and crashed into a fence post at a local cemetery. The car overturned due to the impact.

“As a result of the accident, the 42-year-old driver received a fracture and bruise, and his 4-year-old son was hospitalized, where he subsequently died within 24 hours from his injuries,” the press service said.

In relation to the driver, traffic police inspectors compiled administrative materials for drunk driving without a license and lack of vehicle registration (part 1 of article 12.8, part 1 of article 12.7 and part 1 of article 12.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation).

Now the police are establishing all the circumstances of the child’s death, conducting an investigation, based on the results of which a decision will be made in accordance with the law.

“Dear snowmobile drivers! The State Traffic Inspectorate urges you not to transport children as passengers – this is a matter of the life and health of the child! Neither speed, nor convenience, nor the requests of children are worth their health and life. When making a decision about transportation, remember: one second of carelessness can change everything,” the traffic police addressed the drivers.
