Zelensky reacted to the negotiations between the US and Ukraine on the “peace plan”

“Today, after the completion of the work of the teams in America, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, reported on the main parameters of the dialogue, emphasis and some results,” Zelensky said. “It is important that there is constructiveness in the conversation, and all issues at the meetings were discussed frankly and aimed at ensuring the sovereignty and national interests of Ukraine.”

Zelensky expressed gratitude to the United States, the team of President Donald Trump and the head of the White House personally for the time that is “so intensively invested in determining steps to end the war.”

“We will continue to work. I expect a full report from our team during a personal meeting,” the president concluded.

Umerov wrote about the report to Zelensky following the negotiations in the United States in Telegram.

“We have made significant progress in promoting a dignified peace and bringing our positions closer to the American side. Our key goals – security, sovereignty and reliable peace – remain unchanged and are shared by the American side. What lies ahead is continued consultations and work to agree on a joint framework solution.”

Negotiations in the United States between the American and Ukrainian delegations consisted of two parts. The first lasted two hours, after which a break was announced. In total, the negotiations lasted five hours, Axios noted.

The day after the meeting, on December 1, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff will fly to Moscow, where he is scheduled to hold talks with illegitimate Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 2.

Following the meeting in Miami, US Secretary of State and head of the American delegation Marco Rubio said that the American and Ukrainian teams are working not only on the conditions for ending the war between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, but also on “conditions that will ensure long-term prosperity for Ukraine.”

Umerov called the negotiations with the United States “difficult,” but “meaningful and successful.”

Context

Bloomberg wrote that the 28-point plan, which was agreed upon by Vitkoff and Putin’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation, Kirill Dmitriev, was not accepted, because it had too many contradictory aspects.

After a response from Ukraine and European partners during negotiations in Geneva on November 23, the Russian-American document was changed, reducing it to 19 provisions. The White House released a statement after the negotiations that the amended draft peace agreement reflects Ukraine's national interests.

On November 25, Trump expressed the opinion that agreements to resolve the Russian war against Ukraine are very close.

On November 27, Putin said that the Russian Federation is allegedly ready to cease fire in the war if the Ukrainian defense forces leave parts of Ukrainian territory that are not captured by the occupiers, which are claimed by Moscow. He threatened that “if they don’t leave,” then the Russian Federation will supposedly “achieve this by military means.” Putin added that Russia is “ready to fight to the last Ukrainian.”

Before his dismissal from the post of head of the OP, Andriy Ermak stated that Zelensky would not sign a document renouncing the territory.

The media wrote that the United States, at negotiations with Ukraine on November 30, wants to close disputes on two key points of the “peace plan” – Ukrainian territories and security guarantees for Kyiv. The parties will also discuss election schedule in Ukraine and several more “unresolved issues,” the WSJ announced.
