Shortparis band lead singer and Siberian Nikolai Komyagin died at 39

Shortparis lead singer Nikolai Komyagin died at the age of 39. Journalist Ksenia Sobchak reported this. According to preliminary data, the musician became ill after boxing training.

Komyagin was born in Novokuznetsk, where he met Alexander Ionin and Pavel Lesnikov and founded the indie rock band Fools On Time Square – the predecessor Shortparis. IN In 2010, the members of the group moved to St. Petersburg, and in 2012 the group received a rebirth.

Shortparis is considered one of the most striking and controversial phenomena of Russian music of the 2010s. Their sound mixes electronica, art-punk, darkwave and folk.

Komyagin managed to act in films: in Kirill Serebrennikov’s film “Summer”, the thriller “Karamora”, he played the main role in the short film “Complex”. The group also wrote music for films that traveled to Cannes and Venice.
