Former president Klaus Iohannis was absent from the National Day parade at the Arc de Triomphe in Bucharest. The current president Nicușor Dan was asked about his invitation to tonight's reception at the Cotroceni Palace.

President Nicușor Dan said on Monday, after the National Day military parade at the Arc de Triomphe in Bucharest, that he invited former president Klaus Iohannis to the official National Day reception.

“Sure, all the former heads of state, obviously”, replied Nicușor Dan, at the Arc de Triomphe, where he bathed the crowd for almost 2 hours after the parade ended.

The reception organized on the occasion of Romania's National Day starts at 18.00 at the Cotroceni Palace.

Romania celebrates 107 years since the Great Union, and the National Day was marked in Bucharest with a military parade under the Arc de Triomphe.

The parade started at 11:00 a.m. and ended shortly after 12:00 p.m. In Bucharest, the morning was cold, cloudy and foggy, but even so thousands of people, of all ages, went to see the parade of soldiers and technical equipment of the Romanian Army.

Former president Traian Băsescu also took part in the parade.
