The inhabitants of Wołomin decided. Nighttime prohibition has been in force since February

“In many cities, similar regulations have resulted in fewer police interventions, fewer disturbances at night and fewer situations affecting the sense of security of residents,” we read in the justification for the City Council's decision.
The local government argues that the decision is to improve safety and ensure greater peace at night. As the office emphasizes, in many cities such regulations have brought visible results. Similar bans are already in force, among others: in Legionowo, Wieliszew and Sulejówek.

Wołomin will introduce prohibition. New rules from February 2026
The change was preceded by public consultations in which 482 residents from the city and villages took part. Over 61 percent participants were in favor of limiting the sale of alcohol at night, and most indicated the interval 22:00–6:00. The resolution was also supported by the Senior Council, the Youth City Council, the Social Welfare Center, the Addiction Prevention and Therapy Center and the security services. According to the office, the impact of the new rules will be felt primarily by people living near shops and returning from work at night.

Wołomin will thus join the growing group of local governments limiting the availability of alcohol at night. In Poland, similar regulations have already been introduced by approximately 180 municipalities, including: Szczecin, Gdańsk, Wrocław and Łódź. In the capital, the ban currently applies in two districts, i.e. Śródmieście and Praga-Północ.

The Speaker of the Sejm, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, has just signed the introductory ordinance ban on the sale of alcohol in buildings managed by the Chancellery of the Sejm, which has been in force since November 24. At the same time, he assigned form numbers to two bills regarding limiting the availability of alcohol. The Left's proposal provides for a total ban on the sale of alcohol at gas stations, medical facilities and throughout the country at night. The Poland 2050 project assumes a ban on night sales at gas stations after a two-year transition period. The Ministry of Health is also working on its own regulations. They would cover gas stations and health resorts.
