Poland submits an application to Brussels. It's about money for armaments


The Polish application was submitted to the EC two minutes before midnight on Friday to Saturday – journalists in Brussels learned unofficially from sources in the EU. The deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, but Poland had hoped to submit all documentation earlier.

Poland submits an application to Brussels for money for defense

The almost 300-page application included 139 projects, both in the military domain, prepared by the Ministry of National Defense, and related to cybersecurity, infrastructure, and projects prepared by the Ministry of Interior and Administration.

The government announced that 89 percent of the EUR 43.7 billion that Poland is counting on under the program is to be invested in the domestic arms industry.

The SAFE Instrument is an EU program that aims to strengthen the defense of member states. It envisages a total of EUR 150 billion of support – in the form of, among others: low-interest loans – primarily for purchases of military equipment, especially those produced in Europe.
