Zelensky sums up talks with the US and announces meetings in Europe

“A new diplomatic week will begin soon – consultations with European leaders will take place. They will primarily concern security issues, support for our stability, and support packages for our defense. First of all, it concerns air defense systems and long-term financial support for Ukraine. We will certainly also talk about a common position and joint actions during the negotiations,” Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on Telegram late on Sunday evening.

A series of meetings on Ukraine

The Ukrainian president recalled that Kiev's representatives recently held a number of talks with representatives of Donald Trump's administration. “Currently, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Andriy Gnatov are on their way to Europe,” he said. He also said that he was waiting for information on the details of the US-Russian meetings and on the “nuances” that the Americans are ready to take into account in negotiations with Ukraine and Russia.

“Yesterday we spoke with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner – thank you for being available 24/7. American representatives know Ukraine's fundamental position, and it was a constructive, although not easy, conversation. We continue our activities. Some matters can only be discussed in person: Umerov and Gnatov will report to me, I will also talk to European leaders – we have meetings planned in London and Brussels,” Zelensky said.

On Monday, London will host a meeting between British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The talks are to concern American actions aimed at ending the war between Russia and Ukraine.
