According to her, the Buzău-Ialomița Basin Administration (ABA), ESZ Prahova and Hidroelectrica previously offered firm guarantees that the works would not affect the population. However, the situation on the ground proved otherwise.
“The fact that tens of thousands of people were left without water is not just a technical problem, but a serious, unacceptable lack of professionalism,” Buzoianu said in a post on Facebook.
Diana Buzoianu asked the general director of the Romanian Waters National Administration to convene an urgent meeting with the institutions involved, in order to establish an action plan to prevent the repetition of such situations. The meeting takes place on Saturday, with the participation of prefects and local authorities.
Buzoianu specified that, although flows are reduced during the works, access to water should not be interrupted for days. The authorities have promised to present the technical solution for remediation shortly.
“Obviously, flows will be lower during these works, but, normally, access to water should not be stopped for days. In the following hours, the authorities gave assurances that we will also have the proposed technical solution, following this emergency meeting”, the minister wrote on Facebook.
The Control Corps goes to the field
The Minister of the Environment also announced the dispatch of the Control Corps to check how the situation was managed and to identify the persons responsible.
“People need drinking water, not justifications. I will also send the Control Body of the Ministry of the Environment to check the way the situation was managed and to identify the people responsible for this situation”, Diana Buzoianu also declared.
She pointed out that, a few days ago, the responsible authorities under the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Energy guaranteed that the population will not run out of water.
It promises additional information as soon as the technical solution will be applied, stating that the absolute priority is the resumption of water supply as soon as possible for the residents of Prahova and Dâmbovița.
