Ecological warmth for Zakopane. New borehole for 4 kilometers

Work on the fifth Bańska PGP-7 geothermal well in Zakopane started with a delay. The project is intended to increase the capacity of Zakopane to be supplied with heat from thermal waters. Geotermia Podhalańska confirmed that pre-drilling for the first column of casing pipes had already been performed by mid-November.

The new hole will ultimately reach a depth of approximately 4,050 m. The assumed temperature of thermal water obtained from this well is approximately 90 degrees C. “Work on drilling the Bańska PGP-7 well has started,” said Marzena Pelczarska from Geotermia Podhalańska.

It was also emphasized that the investment would strengthen the potential of the entire system. “Thanks to the increase in power, it will be possible to connect new customers to our heating network,” explained Marzena Pelczarska.
Zakopane invests in heat from the ground. A 4-kilometer borehole
The start of work on the Bańska PGP-7 well was delayed due to technical problems. The investment was originally supposed to start in spring, but the schedule was postponed due to the completion of work on the earlier well.
Additionally, difficulties were encountered with the bearing capacity of the soil, which required stabilization of the ground and replacement of the surface.

The pace of connecting new customers will depend on the transmission capacity of the system and investments in infrastructure expansion. Geotermia Podhalańska announces that accurate estimates will be presented after verification of the data from the well.
This is a key step towards increasing the availability of ecological heat for the inhabitants of Zakopane and the surrounding area.
