Secretary (Minister) of the United States Army Dan Driscoll has been removed from negotiations regarding Ukraine by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, the British daily Telegraph reported on Friday. According to the source, the reason for this decision was Driscoll's “too much fatigue”.

“Dan Driscoll, considered a rising star at the Pentagon, was cut by the increasingly paranoid Minister of War (Hagseth),” we read in the newspaper.
According to sources, he was excluded from peace negotiations after “it was found that he had exceeded his powers.” “It was noticed that (Driscoll) was exerting himself a little too much and he got his paws kicked,” said a person close to the matter.
The Telegraph recalled that Driscoll is a close friend of Vice President JD Vance, and his ratings in the administration of US President Donald Trump were growing rapidly. He is also appreciated by European leaders for his experience and composure, the daily said.
In November, Driscoll was entrusted with the task of presenting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky with a 28-point American plan, which, according to Trump, was supposed to lead to peace between Russia and Ukraine. This meeting ended in failure because the Ukrainian leader rejected the plan and did not agree to hand over Ukrainian territories to Russia.
Despite previous announcements, Driscoll did not come to Paris in December, where he was supposed to talk with Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron. He also did not make another trip to Kiev.
“Ukrainian and European officials believe Driscoll's absence is part of a broader fight for control of the peace negotiations,” the British daily wrote.
In November, the Telegraph revealed that Driscoll is considered the favorite to succeed Hegseth should the Pentagon chief become vacant.
