After the appearance of transcripts from the DNA Iași file, in which a businessman talks about a meeting “in Bolojan's office”, the prime minister confirms the existence of a 15-minute discussion, but states that the discussion “had no consequences”. On September 23, 2025, in the office at the Victoria Palace, the prime minister received Mihai Barbu, the leader of the PNL Vaslui branch, and the businessman Fanel Bogos, for a 15-minute discussion.
Considered one of the main players on the poultry market in Romania, Fănel Bogos was remanded in custody in the case in which he is accused by the National Anticorruption Directorate of “relying on influence networks” to change the management of DSVSA Vaslui.
The transcripts in the DNA file claim, however, that Bogos would have paid 1.5 million euros to obtain the audience, the purpose of which would have been to change the management of the sanitary-veterinary control institution in Vaslui and protect an important business in the poultry sector.
According to the prosecutors, the intermediary of the meeting was Mihai Barbu, placed under judicial control on Thursday and banned from being head of the county branch of the party, that is, the position he had when he talked with Fanel Bogos. So far, PNL has not sent any message.
The influence file in which the prime minister's name is cited represents another open front in the case of Ilie Bolojan, in addition to ongoing reforms and internal pressure from the party, around the local elections.
