They announce group layoffs at ZEM in Ełk. Almost 250 people will lose their jobs


The largest cuts will affect those employed in direct production. 187 people will lose their jobs in this department. Another 30 employees will be dismissed from the intermediate production section, while 24 people will leave the administration department. The reduction process has been planned in three stages, which are scheduled to end in April next year, Radio5 reports.
In 2024, ZEM employed approximately 300 full-time employees and over 1,000. in various forms of cooperation.

The Automotive Electrical Engineering Plant in Ełk (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship) has been operating on the market since 1945. Initially, under the name of the State Enterprise of Tractors and Agricultural Machines, it focused on servicing the agricultural sector. Over time, the company specialized in the production of electrical harnesses for the automotive industry. It produced cables for Ursus tractors, Star trucks and motorcycles, and later for Fiat 125p, 126p and Cinquecento cars.
Since the 1990s, the plant has cooperated with such giants as Fiat, Opel, Mercedes, Volvo, Peugeot and even Porsche.

The Labor Office announced support for dismissed employees
Actions to support people affected by redundancy have already been announced by the District Labor Office in Ełk.
— Last week we received information about planned group layoffs, says Dariusz Kuprewicz, director of the District Labor Office in Ełk, in Radio5.

At the beginning of January, an information meeting will be organized, during which employees will learn how to register with the office, what forms of assistance are available and what conditions must be met to obtain pre-retirement benefits. The employment office also plans to present programs that may help you find a new job or start your own business.
