Hansi Flick (60), the coach of Barcelona, reacted after his team lost without right of appeal to Chelsea, score 0-3, in the 5th stage of the single group of the Champions League.
Jules Kounde opened the scoreboard in the 27th minute, after scoring in his own goal, and Ronald Araujo left the Catalans numerically inferior, after seeing the second “yellow” in the 44th minute. Estevao and Liam Delap established the final score thanks to the successes signed in the second half.
Hansi Flick, after Barcelona were beaten by Chelsea: “It's not easy to recover”
“I saw positive things and I think we can still get the remaining 9 points. We started very well and had a great opportunity to score the first goal. Then the red card changed the game and it's not easy to bounce back against a team like Chelsea when you're outnumbered“, said Flick, according to sportal.bg.
The Barcelona coach also admitted that there are areas for improvement in his side's game.
“We lost some easy balls and we definitely need to be more dynamic and play more aggressively.”
However, Flick has repeatedly stressed that any assessment of the match must take into account the fact that Barcelona played most of the game with ten men.
Following the setback suffered at “Stamford Bridge”, Barcelona temporarily dropped to 15th place, having only 7 points after the first 5 stages. Previously, Hansi Flick's team had lost at home against the trophy holder, PSG, score 1-2. The Catalans still have to play at home with Eintracht Frankfurt, away with Slavia Prague and at home with FC Copenhagen.
On the other hand, Chelsea climbed to 5th place in the group, and the Londoners still have to play away with Atalanta, at home with Pafos, and in the last stage they will travel to Italy, for the match with Napoli.
