FK Auda Faces FCSB in UEFA Conference League Rematch After Dramatic Riga Match

With just 24 hours before the rematch between FK Auda and FCSB, four players with Superliga backgrounds showcased their skills in a thrilling UEFA Conference League encounter at Skonto Stadium in Riga. This venue, which will host the decisive match for FCSB, was the site of a dramatic showdown between Riga FC and Vardar Skopje on Tuesday evening.
FCSB is set to play one of its crucial early-season matches on Thursday at 19:00, as the team, under the guidance of coach Marius Baciu, seeks to overturn a 2-3 defeat suffered in the first leg against the Latvian side.
Skonto Stadium Prepared for FCSB Duel
Typically, Auda plays its home matches in Ķekava; however, their home ground does not meet UEFA standards. Consequently, the Latvian team hosts its European matches at Skonto Stadium, the premier arena in Riga.
Just a day prior to the match against FCSB, the stadium witnessed an exciting return leg between Riga FC and Vardar Skopje in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
Riga secured advancement after a spectacular match, overcoming a 0-2 deficit by scoring late in regulation and netting three more goals in extra time, winning 5-2 on aggregate.
Superliga Alumni Shine in Riga FC – Vardar Match
Among those on the field in the Riga FC vs. Vardar match were four players well-known to Romanian football fans. For Vardar Skopje, David Babunski, a former player for Viitorul and FC Botoșani, scored one of the away team’s goals, while Darko Velkovski, a former defender for Dinamo, also featured.
On the opposing side, Riga had Caio Ferreira, a former attacker at FC Argeș who scored in the 117th minute, and Mohamed Badamosi, who played last season for CFR Cluj.
Additionally, Cristian Fabbiani, a former CFR striker from 2007-2010, is currently the head coach of Vardar Skopje and was on the bench during the match.
FCSB must make up for the deficit from the first leg to stay in contention. A narrow victory will push the match into extra time, while a win by at least two goals will secure their place in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
The match between FK Auda and FCSB will not be broadcast on television in Romania and can only be streamed on the Voyo platform.
