On the eve of the New Year, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds how to safely use pyrotechnics.

Before purchasing any pyrotechnic product, you must first carefully inspect its packaging. It should not be damaged or show signs of getting wet. It should have instructions printed on it in Russian.

“You need to purchase pyrotechnic products only at stationary retail outlets. It is strictly not recommended to buy products over the Internet; it is unsafe for your health and your loved ones. The sale of pyrotechnic products is prohibited to persons under 16 years of age. This also applies to firecrackers,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds.

Before purchasing fireworks, you should ask the seller for a certificate of conformity indicating the hazard class. Pyrotechnic products of hazard classes I-III are available to the public for purchase, and classes IV-V are intended only for professionals.

How to properly set off fireworks:

• Carefully read the instructions, which, among other things, indicate a safe zone – usually about 30 meters (that is, there should be no buildings, trees, or structures within a radius of 30 m). Therefore, it is impossible to fire fireworks in the courtyards of residential buildings.
• Do not lean over fireworks while using them, do not bring them close to your face or point them at people.
• Fireworks should only be set off when sober.
• Children should not set fireworks on fire.
• Sparklers should not be brought near the face, hair, or clothing; it is better not to use them indoors.

After using the product, you should wait about 10 minutes before approaching it. Only then can you be sure that all the charges have fired. It is advisable to sprinkle it with snow. If some do not burst, then such products must be soaked in water for a day and then disposed of as household waste.
