Labor Minister Florin Manole said, referring to the Prime Minister's statement regarding the need to reduce spending by 10% in ministries, that he will not fire anyone from the ministry he leads and that he will make savings “to the extent possible”.
Florin Manole claimed on Saturday evening, on Antena 3, that he is the Minister of Labor and not “of layoffs or cuts”, adding that any civil servant who does a public service today must stay to do that public service, reports News.ro.
Florin Manole: “I don't need anyone to put order in the Ministry of Labor”
He specified that in the Ministry of Labor there is a shortage of personnel in many areas, giving as an example the Pension Houses.
“We have deficiencies, staff shortages in many areas. I have been in Maramureş, in Zalău, in Alba, in Sibiu in the last few days. There are Pension Houses that do not have the number of employees they should have for years and that work with people who compensate for the absence of their colleagues. First and foremost, I do not need anyone to put order in the Ministry of Labor. At the level of the central apparatus in the ministry, compared to January 2025, we have 6.7% more few salary expenses. I have not fired anyone, I will not fire anyone. I will continue to make savings as much as possible”, declared the Minister of Labor, Florin Manole.
Asked by what methods he managed to reduce expenses, the minister explained that where there were civil servants who retired, rookies were brought in with lower salaries, but there were cases when the retired people were not replaced. “Of course, this will not be possible forever. The reduction of increments was another measure by which some expenses were reduced”, said Florin Manole.
