The authorities of Venice have maintained the same level of the entrance fee to the city in 2026 on the days on which it will be in force. It only applies to those arriving for one day without accommodation. The usual fee is 5 euros per person, and 10 euros if you register your arrival in the last four days before arrival.

The regulation on the amount of fees was approved by the city board. Their requirement will apply for 60 selected days between April 3 and July 26. It is the only such system in the world.

As explained, the purpose of introducing these rules is strengthening the reservation and planning system for arrivals to Venicestruggling with the phenomenon of the so-called excessive tourism. Its main cause is considered to be the mass arrival of tourists only for a few hours of sightseeing, without accommodation. These are millions of people every year.

Fee as in the previous two years, will be charged for people arriving between 8.30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Children up to 14 years of age will be exempt from it.

It will come into force on Good Friday, April 3, and will be charged until the end of the Easter holidays on April 6, and then on subsequent weekends and from April 27 to May 3, on all weekends in May, from June 1 to 7 and on all weekends this month and in July.

Thanks to the registration and fee system, as noted in the city's announcement, the ability to manage the influx of tourists and the preparedness of city services on the days when the influx of tourists will be improved will be improved.

– It is a tool for intelligent management of the influx of visitors, which will enable more thorough monitoring, said Michele Zuin, head of the budget department in the city authorities.
