Zelensky on the peace plan: now is one of the most difficult moments in our history

Ukraine finds itself in one of the most difficult moments in history, it is faced with a choice between loss of dignity and the risk of losing a key partner, between accepting 28 difficult points and the harshest winter and further threats, said the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Friday.

– Now is one of the most difficult moments in our history. Now Ukraine may face a very difficult choice: either loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner. Either a difficult 28 points or an extremely difficult winter – the hardest – and further risks. Life without freedom, dignity and justice. And that we should believe the one who attacked twice already. They will expect an answer from us, Zelensky said in a speech to the Ukrainian people posted on the Telegram messenger.
Russian leader Vladimir Putin threatened to occupy more lands in Ukraineif it rejects the US peace plan.
The American website Axios published on Thursday details of the 28-point US peace plan for Ukraine, negotiated between the Americans and Russians. According to it, Kyiv would undertake, among other things, not to join NATO, limit the size of the army and give part of the territory to Russia.

US President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that he had given Ukraine until Thursday to agree to the plan proposed by the Americans to end the war in Ukraine.
“I had a lot of deadlines, but if things are going well, they extend the deadlines. But it's Thursday. We think it's the right time,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News Radio.
He stressed that there was a “slaughter” in Ukraine and Ukraine was “losing territory.” He assured that Vladimir Putin “does not want any more wars.”
Ukraine, France, Germany and the UK are working on an alternative proposal for the American 28-point peace plan – Reuters reported on Friday, citing three sources.
One of the sources told the agency that other European countries would probably also take part in developing an alternative proposal.
Zelensky: Loss of dignity or risk of losing a key partner
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will state on Friday that Ukraine cooperates calmly and responsibly with the United States and partners. He assured that he would present arguments and propose alternatives, without giving Russia any reason to claim that it does not want peace.
– We don't make loud statements. We cooperate calmly and responsibly with the United States and all partners. We will only continue to look for solutions constructively with our main ally. I will present arguments and propose alternatives, but I will certainly not give the enemy a reason to say that Ukraine does not want peace, Zelensky said in a speech to the Ukrainian people, the recording of which was posted on the Telegram messenger.
The president also called for “an end to quarrels” and political games. – The state must act, the parliament of a country at war must act together, the government of a country at war must act effectively, he emphasized.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday in a speech to the Ukrainian people that will not betray Ukraine, just as he did not betray it in February 2022. He added that he would fight to ensure that at least two points of the peace plan were not omitted – the dignity and freedom of Ukrainians.
– Every Ukrainian, every Ukrainian woman, every soldier, every volunteer, every doctor, diplomat, journalist, our entire nation. We didn't betray Ukraine then, we won't do it now. And I know for sure that I am not alone in this truly one of the most difficult moments in our history, Zelensky said.
He added that Ukraine will act quickly, especially today, Saturday and Sunday, throughout next week and for as long as necessary. – I will fight 24/7 to ensure that at least two of the plan's points are not omitted – the dignity and freedom of Ukrainians. Because this is what everything else is based on – our sovereignty, our independence, our land, our people. And the Ukrainian future – emphasized the president.
According to him Ukraine counts “on European friends who understand perfectly that Russia is not far awaythat it is located right next to the EU borders, that Ukraine is currently the only shield that separates comfortable European life from Putin's plans.
Additionally, after the conversation with US Vice President JD Vance, Volodymyr Zelensky added that Ukraine respectfully acknowledges US President Donald Trump's desire to end the war and welcomes any realistic proposal on this matter.
“Ukraine has always respected and continues to respect President Trump's desire to end the bloodshed, and we welcome any realistic proposal,” Zelensky wrote.
As he said, his conversation with Vance and U.S. Secretary (Minister) of Land Forces Dan Driscoll lasted almost an hour, and during it many details of the American peace plan were agreed.
“We agreed that together with America and Europe we will work at the advisory level to make the path to peace truly possible,” Zelensky added.
The Ukrainian president wrote that he also talked with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about existing diplomatic possibilities and the American peace plan.
“We want to work quickly and constructively to make this plan work. We are coordinating common next steps,” he said, emphasizing that what Ukraine wants most in the world is to end this war and achieve a dignified peace.
