
In the Polish city of Orzysz, located in the northeast of the country, the international military exercise Amber Shock 26 has started, in which more than 3,500 NATO troops and hundreds of pieces of equipment are taking part. This was reported on May 2 on the Polish RMF 24.
As noted on the radio website, military personnel from the 2nd Cavalry Regiment (2CR) of the US Army, as well as other allied units from Poland and the United States, are taking part in the exercises.
The media quotes the speaker of the multinational division “North-East”, Lieutenant Colonel Dariusz Guzenda, who noted that after the redeployment of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the US Army from Germany to Poland at a distance of more than 1000 km, his units were deployed to the training ground, integrated into the NATO multinational battle group and subordinate to the division.
According to him, during the exercises, the military will perform tactical fire missions in order to practice interaction between units and demonstrate the unity and reliability of NATO countries in matters of common security.
He added that the culmination of the exercise will be the firing of live ammunition, scheduled for Thursday, May 14.
As noted on the RMF FM website, Exercise Amber Shock 26 is part of the broader Saber Strike 26 exercise, which is taking place simultaneously in Poland, Lithuania and Finland.
Multinational Division North-East, which is involved in organizing and coordinating the exercise, is said to be coordinating the activities of NATO battle groups stationed in Poland and Lithuania. Its tasks include coordinating the training of troops and increasing awareness of the situation in the region, as well as ensuring readiness to act within the framework of collective defense in accordance with Art. 5 of the Washington Treaty.
