Senator Titus Corlățean officially announced on Sunday, at Antena 3 CNN, that he is in the race for the PSD chief. The Social Democrat said that the party “needs credibility, needs to be relaunched, it must be led by well trained people, with the diploma on the table.”
“I made the decision to assume this responsibility to run as president in the management of the Social-Democratic Party. I am not alone, there are many colleagues who share these ideas,” said Corlățean.

“At this moment there is a great social democrats, sympathetic members who want a change for the better. It is a volcano, and these people do not understand what is under them. It will be a project based on prepared, good quality, credible and morality,” added Corlățean.
The senator denied that he had an agreement with Victor Ponta or had secret meetings to get support. “No, we do not do things in the dark. I talk to my colleagues for a long time, many will revitalize the party,” he added.
Regarding the meeting of the PSD National Permanent Bureau of Monday, organized as a result of “positions in partners in organizing the official ceremonies dedicated to former President Ion Iliescu”, Senator Titus Corlățean says that a discussion is needed on the “background issues” in the party.
“Too many things have been accumulated. Personally, I think it would be rational to discuss the background themes, for example why the PSD was silent when education was made on education, there was no consultation. And as we do in this government to count, because, in fact, the USR became the main government party, what a sad reality said.
“We go to derision”
Quoted by G4media, Corlățean also said that he did not support the entry of the PSD in the current coalition, preferring “a rational support formula”.
“I launch a public question, why did he still vote in the PSD to enter this government? Because it was a serious discussion and in stages … It was only a simple decision-with which I did not agree-it kept discussed, and if we were to enter we had to have a strong entrance, even by taking some measures (…),” said Corlățean.
The senator also spoke about the “trauma” of the loss of 1.5 million votes in the presidential elections, when the PSD did not enter the second round.
“We go to 21%, but we decide to support a candidate who does not enter the second round, with huge electorate loss, we like it or, if we do not understand that the party has to wake up, we go to derision (…) even the internal life in the party has disappeared. Filters, all kinds of mediocre were promoted, so we reached a bad management and lack of credibility ”, said Titus Corlățean.
