The career of Marko Dedijer (24 years old, former left wing) has taken a turn that is hard to imagine.
Marko Dedijer did the junior training at Red Star Belgrade, and the Serbians from sportal.rs. I write that he was one of the most talented kids in the academy. He made the difference even in the tightest derbies with rival Partizan.
The Serbian decided to end his career earlier this year, his last club being Jedinstvo, an amateur team from Serbia. Played 5 games in the first league of Serbia. He didn't get to make his debut for Red Star's big team. He also played for Rad and Grbalj. He has 3 matches for the under 18 national team of Serbia.
Marko Dedijer: I became a barber. See you at the salon”
“A lot was predicted for me. They said that great success awaited me in the best leagues in the world, but I think that if something had to happen, it would have happened. Of course, I take responsibility for my path, because I always started from myself, from what I could have done differently.
There were also external factors, from this perspective I see more clearly. I think that the change of manager put me at a great disadvantage in my career. I made a rash decision then and I would advise young players not to do that. You always have to think carefully, no matter how nice and convincing some words sound,” said Marko Dedijer, according to the quoted source.
He told how his experience was at the Marakana, but also that he lived to defeat the eternal rival:
“At that time I was living for the derbies with Partizan. I grew up wanting to beat Partizan, and I managed to score goals almost every game. We had a great generation, we were beating everyone. It used to be that half of the national team was made up of players from Steaua Roșie, from our generation.
In the end, only Strahinja Erakovic played in the first team of Red Star and that fully deserved. He has always been the ultimate professional and fully committed to duty. We are still friends today. And with him, and with Bogdan Jocic, Borisav Burmaz, Njegos Kupusovis and Nikola Stajic. These are lifelong friends.”
He played in the lower leagues in Serbia and, as he admits, his passion for football slowly began to fade. Now, Dedijer has another job.
“I felt the best at Dunav, as far as the people in the club are concerned. There, for the first time in my career, I felt that I was respected to the maximum. Everything we agreed on – they respected. I have to mention the coach at the time, Stefan Randelovic, who with his approach and confidence restored my faith that I can be reborn as a football player.
After that I went to Trajal, where I wanted to prove that I have qualities for the first league of Serbia. I scored six goals in 14 games and it was one of the best periods of my career. However, after that, the passion for football began to fade. I feel like I'm stagnating, and the years go by. Consequently – I became a barber. See you at the salon“, he also said.
Red Star Belgrade is the next opponent of FCSB in the Europa League. The two will meet on Thursday, November 27, from 22:00. The match will take place in Belgrade.
