Aware of the situation of the close Mihai Rotaru, Gica Craioveanu calmed the alarmist information about the University's shareholder:

The accident didn't happen now, but last Saturday. I've known since last weekend, but it's by no means anything dangerous, serious. He got hit on the shoulder and is made of a stallion mosquito.

I don't know if he had surgery because of the fall, because anyway, because he often goes skiing, especially in Courchevel, he had problems in that area. There is no need to scare the world, because it is not serious at all, God forgive me!

He went through another trial, 18 days at ATI

Rotaru also went through a rough patch, after contracting COVID-19. After the restoration, in the spring of 2022, in his first appearance on a sports showat “Prietenii lui Ovidiu”, revealed that “it was a critical case, for 18 days in Intensive Therapy”.

“I wasn't quite in a coma, but… not in a very good state. I wouldn't want to talk too much, but it was a tough time. Fortunately, it passed,” he added.

“I managed to ski 41 days this year. Last year (no – in 2021), after I had Covid, I tried to ski on the Lupulu slope, in Poiana, and I couldn't make a descent. My friends had to take me to the hotel because I couldn't…

After going through that critical moment, I actually came out better. I am much more careful with my life, with those around me! It wakes you up a bit… That's why I decided to ski for 45 days [pe an]”.
