On November 14, a meeting of students with experts from the Avito company was held at the Siberian Federal University. She became part of the all-Russian educational tour “Lumino”, which introduces students to creative and research professions in IT.
A team of Avito experts came to Krasnoyarsk, including a design director, creative director and head of UX research. During an open dialogue, they explained how digital products are created for millions of users and what specialists, besides programmers, work on technologies and services.
As Avito design director Andrey Tarasov noted, students are little familiar with creative IT professions. Most events and internships are focused on developers, while the roles of designers, researchers and editors remain in the shadows. Because of this, many talented specialists enter the profession not immediately after university, but from other fields.
“Many people think that the path to IT lies only through programming, but this is not so. About half of our team are designers, editors, and researchers. Our goal is to start a direct dialogue with the best students and show them this path, so that immediately after university they consider a career in these industries,” said Andrey Tarasov, design director of Avito.

The speakers answered questions from students about their path and career growth, and talked about the situation on the labor market and prospects. Separately, experts commented on the future of creative professions in the era of neural networks.
According to Andrey Tarasov, the demand for living artists and designers will only increase, because the business need for content is only growing. Artificial intelligence can improve the quality of human work, but cannot replace his work completely.
Krasnoyarsk became the third city of the tour after Nizhny Novgorod and Samara. The tour itself is part of Avito’s educational initiatives to develop the technology community and support young professionals.
