Horațiu Potra, his son, Dorian Potra, and grandson, Alexandru Potra, were brought to Romania, from Dubai, on Thursday, being targeted by arrest warrants in a case in which they are accused of attempting to commit actions against the constitutional order.
The three were brought under police escort and arrived in Romania on Thursday afternoon, and the media representatives caught their arrival at Otopeni Airport.
The mercenary boss, his son and grandson were led out one by one, flanked by law enforcement while reporters asked them questions.
In an intervention at Digi24, the Minister of Justice said that Horațiu Potra, Dorian Potra and Alexandru Potra “are under the power of an arrest warrant, so this arrest warrant is running its course”.
“Of course they are deprived of their freedom and they are to appear before the judicial bodies, in accordance with the procedures that are underway, before the judicial bodies having, of course, the legal possibility to make all their defenses”, explained Minister Radu Marinescu.

Horațiu Potra was arrested on September 24 at Dubai airport, together with his son and grandson, just before boarding a flight to Moscow.
The three fled Romania at the beginning of the year, being wanted internationally. Arrest warrants were issued for them in February.
The leader of the mercenaries is being sued by the General Prosecutor's Office, together with the former candidate for the 2024 presidential elections Călin Georgescu and 20 other people, in a file regarding the commission of actions against the constitutional order.
On the day he sent the case to court, the general prosecutor Alex Florenta stated that the Romanian authorities have information that he is taking steps to obtain asylum in the Russian Federation.
