“The MANPADS shooter had only seconds.” The Ukrainian Armed Forces showed a video of the Kalibr being shot down during today's attack

“The shooter of the portable anti-aircraft missile system (MANPADS) had only seconds to react and work on the target. An accurate launch – and the Caliber was destroyed in the air,” the report says.

As they said in the 143rd training center “Podillya”, the group included four ordinary soldiers. One of them already has shot down Shahed, flying towards a city in eastern Ukraine.

“We received the coordinates and quickly completed the necessary adjustments. Each member of the crew knows his maneuver automatically. This is the result of thousands of hours of training,” the military noted.

Senior soldier Dmitry fired a well-aimed shot from an FN-6 MANPADS. He said that carrying out combat missions requires only calculation, discipline, clarity and responsibility.

“At the moment of launch, the whole world narrows down to a radar screen and one button. You know that the price of a mistake is someone’s ruined life. The seconds while our anti-missile system is working seem like an eternity. When I saw that the enemy target was destroyed, my emotions went wild,” said Dmitry.

The fighter compares the feeling after destroying a hostile target to the feeling of having just won the most important lottery – “for thousands of people you will never meet.”
